Apr 12, 2016 Word 2016 could not re-establish a DDE connection to Excel. Microsoft Office. This doesn't work. I find it difficult to understand how 2 Microsoft applications cannot work together, especially when I am following the help instructions from within Excel itself! Word 2007 and the data source or the database are not communicating through Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE). You try to insert a Microsoft Office Access 2007 database into the Word 2007 document. However, the database is opened 'exclusively'.

Help...........I have spent half today setting up an automated label print mail merge from an excel worksheet. This all singing all dancing macro was controlled by a button on the worksheet.Following exhaustive testing (including using a whole printer cartidge and 1/2 ream of paper) I called my boss over to show off the fruits of my endeavours.The button is pressed and..........I Quote 'Word could not re-establish a DDE connection to Microsoft Excel to complete the current task'After my boss had stopped laughing he asked if it was 'supposed to do that' and 'Would I like to go on an Excel for muppets course'Needless to say this issue is now on a global lvl of importance and must be resolved asap.My code readsDisplay More- Sub labelprint2()
- ' Save Excel
- ActiveWorkbook.Save
- ' Start Word
- Dim objWord As Object
- Set objWord = CreateObject('Word.application')
- ' Open Word Document
- objWord.Documents.Open Filename:='Svr1lampandgearusersAlecPipelineMerge2.doc'
- objWord.Visible = True
- ' Print Word Document
- objWord.Application.PrintOut
- ' Close and Save Word Document
- objWord.ActiveDocument.Close savechanges:=True
- Set objWord = Nothing
- 'Close Word
- objWord.Application.Quit
- End Sub
Help please........... :crying:By the way, I haver still not resolved my earlier issue of having to select 'read only' when Word tries to re-open the Excel sheet.Thanks in advanceRed faced Alec. :poly:- Navigation

I have an excel spread that I pass between work and home. I use it for a
datasource in mailmerge. At home I have MSOFFICE2003 PRO. At work I have
MSOFFICE2000 PRO. I took the spread and the Word mail merge document home on
my stick last night and made changes to both. I had no problems. This morning
at work, when I try to open the Excel spread from word mailmerge WORD 2000
PRO says 'Word could not re-establish a DDE connection to Microsoft Excel to
complete the current task.'
I have tried saving the excel spread and the word mail merge files in a
different folder and then reattempting to open the word mailmerge file --
with no luck.
